Last week we had a wonderful #blacklitchat discussion with Bernice McFadden, author of Gathering of Waters (and more novels – see below).
Gathering of Waters, her latest book, imagines the spiritual and human backstory to the lynching of Emmett Till in Money, Mississippi. It is a rich story and I was thoroughly engaged by the characters whose lives intersect, collide and lead to that infamous murder.

Gathering of Waters is published by Akashic Books and they also are re-releasing Bernice McFadden’s The Warmest December this year. So if you haven’t read her work, you have plenty to dive into this year.
